Arièle Bonzon est née à Mâcon (France) en 1955. Après des études d’art centrées sur les techniques de l’image, elle débute une recherche artistique liée à la photographie.
Sa première exposition personnelle fut en 1982 à la galerie Le Réverbère, qui depuis représente son oeuvre.

A la fin des années 80, ses Travaux de papier, alliant des techniques mixtes, seront remarqués et Archéologie photographique imaginaire, (1990) exposée en France, Allemagne, USA… deviendra emblématique de sa recherche concernant la photographie. D’autres séries lui feront suite, ainsi en 1993 Chère absente / Fondations & Epiphanies (Paris Hôtel de Sully, Musée de Jérusalem, Deichtorhallen-Hamburg), Equinoxe d’automne (1995) au Centre photographique de Lectoure, où se tiendra une première rétrospective, Pylônes, carottes, et autres étagères. Plusieurs livres ont été conçus et publiés par l’artiste dans cette période.

En 1999, elle crée un nouvel ensemble, Outreloin bleu, qui sera présenté à Paris (Galerie Les Filles du Calvaire) et fera l’objet d’un livre alliant textes, croquis et photographies aux éditions Filigranes. Ce travail marque le début d’un changement concernant la position de l’artiste à l’égard de la photographie. En 2003/04, Le Jeu de la vie, petites suites polaroids de natures mortes, voit le jour alors qu’elle travaille à un carnet de voyage rapporté du désert marocain (2002/2005). Passer. Désert aller retour sera exposé à Lyon, Paris, Genève, et à Braga (Portugal) et au MAC-Lyon dans le cadre de l’exposition « Comme un parfum d’aventure » (octobre 2020 - juillet 2021).

Invitée début 2006 par L’Imagerie (Lannion, Côtes d’Armor) à un nouveau regard rétrospectif, elle conçoit Quatre fois cinq (1985-2005). Depuis 2007, Arièle Bonzon a entrepris un vaste projet intitulé Familier, montré en partie à Lyon et Grenoble (Bibliothèque, Artothèque) puis à la Galerie Le Réverbère 2008/09, Paris Photo 2009, et enfin à Chambéry (Espace Malraux) où, à travers plus d’une centaine d’images, elle propose une vision du monde intitulée : Photographier. Comme un oiseau décrit une courbe. (2010).

Elle participe à des expositions collectives en France (Musée Géo Charles d’Échirolles,
2013), à l’étranger (École Française de Rome, 2011/ Officine Photographiche Roma, 2012), avec l’Institut d’Art Contemporain / Le Réverbère / Ville de Grignan (Entre intime et autoportrait - Un temps dilaté, 2015).

Depuis Incertitudes (Galerie Le Réverbère, 2013), et Vues d’ici (Musée Dini, 2013), jusqu’à sa série en cours { intérieur } (Paris-Photo, 2019), elle poursuit ses recherches sur le regard photographique, où temps et lumière sont ses matières privilégiées, matières à penser et à voir.

Les œuvres d’Arièle Bonzon ont été acquises par les collections publiques, Fonds national d’art contemporain, artothèques, musées, ainsi que par les collectionneurs, en France et à l’étranger.

Tout en se consacrant essentiellement à ses projets artistiques personnels, Arièle Bonzon intervient en tant qu’artiste et photographe dans divers cadres d’enseignements et de formations.
Elle poursuit également des collaborations liées à l’image (graphisme, scénographie, vidéo…) avec d’autres créateurs dans les domaines de la musique, du théâtre, et de la danse.

Arièle Bonzon was born in Mâcon (France) in 1955. After art studies, focused on the techniques of image, she starts an artistic research, linked with the photography. Her first personal exhibition takes place in 1982 in Le Réverbère gallery, which since then represents her work.

At the end of 80's her Travaux de papier (Paper works), combining mixed techniques, are noticed and Archéologie photographique imaginaire (1990) (Imaginary Photographic Archeology) exhibited in France, Germany, USA... becomes emblematic of her quest regarding photography. The last one is followed by other series, as in 1993 Chère absente:Fondations & Epiphanies (Dear absent/ Fondations & Epiphanies) (Hôtel de Sully in Paris, Museul of Jerusalem, Deichtorhallen-Hamburg), Equinoxe d'automne (1995) (Autumn equinox) in Centre photographique de Lectoure, where a first retrospective Pylônes, carottes at autres étagères (Pylons, carrots and other shelves) will be held. At this time, a number of books have been concieved and published by the artist.

In 1999, she creates a new set, Outreloin bleu (Blue beyondfar), which will be presented in Paris (Galerie Les Filles du Calvaire) and will become the object of a book combined by thexts, sketches and photographs by Filigranes publishing. This work underlines the start of a change regarding the position of the artist regarding photography. In 2003/04 Le jeu de la vie (The game of life) little rows of polaroids of still lives, sees the light of the day, while she is working on a travel journal brught back from morrocan desert (2002/2005) Passer. Désert aller retour (Pass. Desert two way trip) will be exhibited in Lyon, Paris, Geneva and in Braga (Portugal), and at the MAC-Lyon (Musée d'Art Contemporain, Lyon) as part of the exhibition "Comme un parfum d'aventure" (October 2020 - July 2021).
Invited in the beginning of 2006 of L'Imagerie (Lannion, Côtes d'Armor) to a new retrospective view, she concieves Quatre fois cinq (1985-2005) (Four times five). Since 2007, Arièle Bonzon have began a vast project entitled Familier (Familiar), showed off partly in Lyon and Grenoble (Library and art library), later in Le Réverbère gallery in 2008/2009, Paris Photo 2009 and finally in Chambéry (Espace Malraux) where through around a hundred of images she offers a view on the world entitled Photographier. Comme un oiseau décrit une courbe (2010) (To photograph. How a bird describes a curve).

She takes part in collective exhibitions in France (Musée Géo Charles d'Echirolles, 2013) and abroad (Ecole Française de Rome, 2011/ Officine Photographiche Roma, 2012), with the Institut d'Art Contemporain / Le Réverbère / Ville de Grignan (Entre intime et autoportrait - Un temps dilaté, 2015) (Between the intimate and the self-portrait – A dilated time, 2015)

Since Incertitudes (Uncertainities) (Galerie Le Réverbère, 2013), and Vues d'ici (Views from here) (Musée Dini, 2013), up to her current series { intérieur } (interior) (Paris-Photo, 2019), she has been pursuing her research on the photographic gaze, where time and light are her privileged materials, materials to think and to see.

The works of Ariele Bonzon has been acquired by public collections, art libraries, museums, Fonds national d'art contemporain and by collectors in France and in foregin.

Mainly dedicating herself to her personal artistic projects, Arile Bonzon intervenes as an artist and photographer in various frames of teaching and trainings.
She follows also the collaborations linked with the image (graphic design, scenography, video..) with other creatives in the fields of music, theatre and of dance.
